Just a Normal Week

Dear Fam and Friends,

 

Well I don't really have anything exciting to say this week. It was a pretty normal, kinda boring week. My companion and I just went around working and we were able to get a family to come to church this week, The Marge Family, but it was stake conference this week and it wasn't the best stake conference I've been to. The microphone didn't work half of the time and we were sitting towards the back so we couldn't hear anything and the family didn't have the best experience there. Hopefully we can get them to come back to church next week. 

So yeah no baptisms and I can't think of anything that exciting the happened either. Sorry i feel like my letters just get more and more boring haha. But my companion, Elder Rogers, is going home next week. He finished up the mission so we went and bought some...... I can't remember what the word is in English... its recuerdos in Spanish. Oh yeah it's souvenirs. So we bought some today. So next week we have changes and I'm going to have a new companion. But not until next week. So yeah. Any questions? Like is good and I still love being a missionary! Just nothing that exciting went down this week.

Well you all are awesome and I love you a ton! Hopefully I have some cool stories next week!

Miracles and Another Dog Bite

Dear Family and Friends,

The one word that would describe my week would be.... Miracles. We had such an awesome experience this last week. So for this weekend my companion and I didn't have any baptisms planned. Zero. And yet we ended up with 2 this weekend!!! Whoo!!! We had one which was an investigator we'd had for a while who's name is Gabriela and she decided the she finally wanted to get baptized this weekend which was awesome! And then the big part of the story was finding Karen.

 

So we got a call from a member on Wednesday and he told us that he was walking by the church on Tuesday and saw an 18 year old girl out there and started talking to her. She said he name was Karen and that she had taken the missionary lessons in Guayaquil (another city in Ecuador) and had gone to church there and wanted to get baptized. So this member found out she lived in our sector and gave us a call. We couldn't get a lesson with her until Friday because we had to go to Quito, but we talked to her and she was way ready for baptism so we brought another missionary to do her baptismal interview and she got baptized on Saturday!! It was such a miracle here. And she is gonna be a great convert because she is really smart and understands everything and has a really strong testimony. We just say thank you to the sister missionaries in Guayaquil that taught her. The Lord has blessed us with so many miracles in this sector. My companion, Elder Rogers, is a really good missionary that is about to go home in 2 weeks and he has a goal to get 6 converts this last transfer before he goes. Because of all his hard work the Lord has blessed us with 3 already, we just have to get 3 more this transfer and I believe we can do it! We just need to keep working as hard as we can.

Well I had a couple other experiences this week that weren't quite as cool. First was that I got bitten by a dog... Again. But this was the worst I've been bitten so far. This one actually drew a little blood. It tore through my pants and everything too, but I got too excited to sew them up so I forgot to take a picture of the pants when they were ripped haha. I did take a picture of the bite though so I'll send that home. It just got bruised more than anything and didn't really hurt though so I'll be fine. And the dog hasn't died or started acting weird so it doesn't have rabies either. I'll be fine haha.

And I did get sick again this last week. We had to go to the jungle again to train the missionaries in a city called Puyo. The road going to Puyo is really windy and hideous and I think because of that and a little because of the eggs I ate in the morning, I got pretty dang sick. We got there and my companion went to train the missionaries while I just went to the bathroom to throw-up for a while. I felt really dang sick. But it passed pretty quickly and by the time we got back to Ambato I was feeling fine for out baptisms! And I'm 100% now.

Oh and last thing. For P-day this week we went to this giant park called the Parque de la Familia (basically family park) and there we grilled up some burgers! And played some sports with the zone. It actually went really well and was really fun. The burgers were delicious too! Fun activity! I'll see if I can send home some more pictures. 

Well that was my week. A few dog bites and upset stomachs, but a lot more miracles. I freaking love being a missionary! The mission really is the best. I don't know if I ever want it to end. Love you all soo much! Have a great week and HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESSIE!!!!

Alex's Baptism

A Baptism!!

Dear Fam and Friends,

Well it was another chill week. We didn't really do anything. Just some good hard working. Oh and we had a BAPTISM!!! whoo!! I sent a couple pics. It's a way tight 19 year-old kid named Alex. He's a stud dude and we're gonna get him to go on a mission now. He'd be a great mission. It's cool to baptize young mission age kids. They're boss. It was a good baptism.

Oh and my companion and I have been eating way too many sweets this week. Ugh. He actually got sick and threw up because of it. First, in a store here called Supermaxi (its like a Walmart) we found Betty Crocker brownie mix for only 2 dollars. Sick!! So we made brownies!! And they were amazing. Almost just like you make them mom. And then we had a ton of chocolate cake this week. Like 3 different families gave us cake. Soo good!! but too much dulce (sweetness). I didn't get that sick though. But I'm not sure how I'll be able to hold down all the deserts from the states though when i get back. They just are a lot better there.

 

Oh and one cool story. When my companion and I don't have an appointment late at night we go contacting. And one day we didn't have an appointment. And we contacted for a while, but we didn't have any success. And it got pretty late. It was about 8:45 at night and so we were going to do like one more contact and go home. So we knocked on a door and a 35 year old man came out and let us into his house to share a message. We talked for 15 minutes and invited them to baptism and they accepted!! Whoo!! They weren't able to go to church this week because they were out of town, but they are a great family and are excited to go to church next week. They are the Marge Family and it's a dad a mom and 3 kids. Good family and my companion and I are just praying that they progress. Along with a couple other families we've found. The Lopez and Mora Families. Hopefully we can get them all to church this week!

 

So that's what's going on here. Enjoy the pictures. There are also some from this Park here in Ambato called the Parque de la Familia. It's sick! It's like a park in the states almost. We're gonna do an activity there next week playing baseball and soccer and grilling up some burgers. hopefully it goes wel!! Love you all sooo much!!

Referrals and Mexican Food

Dear Family and Friends,

So this week was not very exciting. It was just a normal week of work. I can't think of really any cool stories or anythiing. Sorry. But we have been working hard so the Lord has blessed us a lot. When Sunday came around my companion and I thought that we wouldn't have very many people coming to church, but because of our hard work the Lord blessed us with members who brought their friends to church and who accepted a date to get baptized afterwards!! Referals are soo much better than finding people while knocking on doors because they progress a lot better. So we were pretty dang happy about that!

 

Oh and on Saturday we eat in this mexican restraunt called Cuatemoc. A member gives us food there and she gave us the best meal I've had in Ecuador on Saturday. She gave us a huge plate of fajitas and another giant plate of nachos and my companion was sick and I love mexican food soo much that I ate my plate, half of his plate, and 3/4 of the plate of nachos. I could hardly move afterwards, but it was soo worth it haha. I miss mexican food. 

So that's all I've got going on. I don't have any pictures because of the camera so it'd be sweet if you could send one as soon as possible. Love you all soo much!!!
