Quito

Dear Fam and Friends,

First off, thanks a ton for the pictures mom! They are awesome! I especially love the one of Jessie. She's a little cutie hahah.
I'm really sorry to hear about Nate's homesickness. It can be sooo hard at first. I cried myself to sleep at nights like my first month in Ecuador (I don't know if you knew that. Know that I made it through all right and I'm doing great now haha). It was way hard for me too. But I decided I would stick it out no matter what and now it's like the greatest thing in the world. I friggin love being a missionary!! But I had to make it through the tough times first for the fun times to come.

Well about me, I'm still doing great! We had a baptism this week which was awesome! It was a family that we got married this week!! Whoo!!! And then they got baptized on Sunday. It was really awesome. It's the Astudillo Family. And they are awesome. They are already in 3rd Nephi reading the Book of Mormon and they paid tithing and fast offerings even before being baptized. They are way awesome. I have some pictures, but this computer kinda stinks so i can't send them this week. but I will for sure send them next week!!
We also had Stake Conference this week. That was pretty tight. It was the second time I've been in a Stake Conference in the mission and it was chill! President Ghent was there and talked a bit and there was a General Authority from Venezuela. A Seventy named like Elder Karon or something like that. But his talk was chill. He made all us missionaries go up to the front and sing Called to Serve. I sang pretty dang well. And the mic was like right in front of my mouth so everyone heard me singing. I got kinda a sexy voice. No big deal. I hope I can still say that as a missionary haha. But yeah it was tight!
To answer some questions, for breakfast in the morning i almost always cook like an egg or two and eat bread. With like soda or something; and yes, I can cook eggs now. not really anything else, but I can cook eggs. or I eat ramen. but i usually don't cook it because that takes time haha. We always eat lunch with members and they give us some good stuff to eat. sometimes weird stuff, but its still good. and then we usually don't eat dinner unless someone gives us a little something to eat. but it's okay because lunch is the biggest meal here. weird huh? but yeah that's how it is.
Yeah and your other questions I'll have to answer next week cause I'm running low on time and I still gotta email Rachel and some other fools. But love you all soo much! and i am praying and fasting for Nate too! i know he'll be alright! love you mom! and don't worry about me. I'm doing amazing.
Love,

Elder Joshy LEE!!

Still in Quito

Hey Fam!!

So everything is still going well. Glad to hear everyone is still doing well and it sounds like you all are going to be kept busy this summer. That's good because I'm going to be plenty busy too haha.

Well the big news this week is that we had transfers! And I didn't go anywhere. But my companion went to the jungle with the only elder I knew before the mish, Elder Murphy. I was a little jealous, but I like my sector a lot so not too much. But I'm not sure how things are going to be with my new companion. His name is Elder Hernandez. He's got 22 months in the mission and is going home after this change. So I'm going to kill my first companion as they say in the mission. He seems like a good guy, but I'll just have to keep him working hard his last month and a half here in Ecuador. We'll see how it goes.

Well that's about all the news I've got for this week. Not really anything exciting has happened. Sorry for being boring. I want to go to the jungle soon, but I don't know if it will happen. I feel like I am going to spend the rest of my mission here in Quito. But if it's where the Lord wants me then I guess it's all good. Umm... I don't know what else to say. Any questions? I think I'll be here in the mission Quito then when they divide the mission because my companion is going home after this change so I'm probably not going anywhere. But it's all good. I get to stay with President Ghent and most of my converts. But I probably won't get to go to Otavalo now.  I'll try and be more exciting next week. I'm really tired. I had to get up at 530 this morning. I just wanted to tell you that. Ummm and yeah. Shake and Bake

Dear Fam and Friends!

First off, Happy Mother's Day! Again mom!! haha. I hope you had an awesome one! it was way great to get to talk to you all. it's good to know everyone is doing well and that you all are just as dorky as ever too haha.
Well there's not much new since yesterday from me. Just today I went with another gringo to this restaurant here in the mall. it's this restaurant called El Corral and we bought a 9 buck hamburger (which is as expensive as heck here!) but it was sooo good. One of the best hamburgers I've ever had. And then afterwards, for the first time here in Ecuador, I found a place where they sell rootbeer. A 22 ounce cup cost 3 bucks but it was soo worth it because it was delicious!! Im sending some pictures of the burger because it was huge!!

Umm I don't have that much time to write today, but that's about all I've got to say. I got the package from Aunt Megan today which was soo awesome! Thank you soo much Aunt Megan!!! And Uncle Michael a bit too haha. But yeah I'm still doing great. really tired lately. I'm not sure why. but yeah it's all good! I'm still just living it up and doing work in Ecuador! Next time I promise I'll send more and have more details but I love you all sooo much and it was awesome to talk to you all!
Love, Ya Boy,

Welcome To The Jungle

Dear Family and Friends,

So this week went really well! My companion and I are doing pretty dang good which is tight. And we had another baptism this week! Whoo!!! Well actually 3. They're the kids of a family (the Castillo Family) that we've been teaching here. The parents can't get baptized yet because the dad has to get divorced first and then they have to get married, but we're helping them with that! But it was a great baptism. This family is really humble, that's what I like soo much about them. The Lord has really prepared them to hear the message of the Gospel. There are 7 in this family and they live in a one room house. There is only room for a bed and a stove to cook and hardly room to stand. It is really humbling to see how they live and yet how happy they are. Especially now that they have the gospel in their lives. The baptism went really well. I sent a photo or two of it so you can see!
Then today, with our zone we went to some waterfalls that are close by our zone and it was awesome! It was a place that looked like not many people go there and there were some way cool sights. I'm sending a bunch of pictures so you all can see too. But there were a few waterfalls (we thought there was going to be a really big one but we got disappointed in that a little bit, but its all good) and some other cools things. Like this one really rickety bridge we walked across. It was intense and I almost fell haha. We really felt like we were in a scene from Jurassic Park or something like that because it was raining a bit and we were way far away from everything city wise. But it was a lot of fun. A little dangerous too because it was raining. Almost everyone slipped and fell at least once. There was an elder who fell down like 30 feet of stairs and really tweaked up his leg, but he'll be okay and still had fun.
Besides that, there's not a lot new here. Like a week ago this one family showed up to church because they wanted to talk to a gringo for help with an English project that one of the kids needed to do. So we sent them all to classes and said we'd help them out after church and they loved church soo much that they came back yesterday. It's the Family Rodriguez and they are way awesome! Now we are teaching them and hopefully are going to help them to accept the Restored Gospel.
Well so yeah I'm still doing great! just loving Ecuador! hope you enjoy all the pictures! Oh and so I'm planning on calling at like 4 o'clock here in Ecuador time. That's like 2 your time i believe. So if Anna and Stu want come over or the Hills or whoever else that'd be awesome!! I love you all sooo much and hope everything is still going well!! ill talk to you on Sunday!!!!! :))))

Con Muchìsimo amor,

Elder Joshyy LEEE!!!!
