District Leader Week 3

Dear Fam and Friends,

So there's not a lot of exciting news this week. I'm going to send home a few pictures. A couple of them are from the lunch we had on Sunday. This Sunday I finally had the chance to eat Cuy. Or in English its Guinea Pig. It looks like a rat. And you eat it just like that on your plate. I felt kinda weird eating it and it wasn't the greatest tasting thing in the world, but it wasn't too bad. You eat it with the skin and everything and normally you burn off all the hair but mine still had some hair on it. But i ate the whole thing anyways hahah. It was one of the strangest things I've eaten here but not too terrible!

In other news, one of my companions got transfered. So that is kind of nice. It was a little tough with him because he got upset about everything, but we made it through and now he's gone so my companion, ELder Hidalgo and I are pretty happy now. And we get along great so that's pretty chill. Hopefully things will keep going well here.

But besides that not really anything else new has happened. I'm still just chilling it up and loving it here in Ecuador!! Being a missionary is the best!!!! Love you all soooo much and I'll write you in a week!! :))

Con Amor,

Pictures!!

Dear Fam and Friends,

Hey!!!  I'm doing great!! Like you said, I got a chance to talk to dad for a few minutes on the phone on Friday. That was weird. I didn't want to call him haha. And it's because I want to stay focussed of the work here. But it didn't distract me too much and it was nice to get a chance to talk to him for a few minutes.

Oh and this week we had another baptism!!1 Whoo!!! And it was about time! This guy who got baptized was supposed to get baptized like 4 months ago but there was always some problem or other but he finally got baptized! His name is Wilmer. But he didn't show up to church on Sunday so he hasn't gotten confirmed yet. Now we just have to make sure he goes to church this next week. But we're going to do it!!

So I love this sector a ton. There are so many people here who are ready and willing to hear the Gospel. In 6 weeks here I've had like 8 baptisms and we had 8 more investigators go to church this Sunday. It is sooo awesome to be in this sector as a missionary!!! And I know there are even more people here that we have to find. The only thing is that it's been a little difficult with my companions. They almost got into a fight this week and I had to break them up. It's been a little tense here, but I'm trying to help my companions stay calm and I think one of them is going to get changed this week so hopefully things will be more tranquilo my next letter haha.

But yeah, that's about it from me. The pictures I'm sending are from a special setting in one of my companions cameras so we took some funny pictures haha. I'll send as many as I can. But I want you to know I love you all sooo much and thanks for the email and the notes and all that good stuff. I'm still having an amazing time here in Ecuador and just living it up!!! Hasta el proximo lunes!!!

District Leader Week 2

Dear Family and Friends,

It sounds like it was a really eventful week. And Nate is finally off. Wow. It probably will be a little tough at first, but he'll be alright. Just keep praying for him a lot. After he makes it through the first month or two he'll be good to go. He's a tough guy. And I'm glad to hear the rest of the family is doing well! Keep them working hard. And that's crazy that Bishop Brown got released! But Brother Tomlinson is an awesome guy and he's going to be a great bishop. Tell them that if they want or have the time they can send me emails now. It'd be awesome to hear from them or from Brother Clouse. And has anyone else from the ward gotten a mission call and heading out?

As for me, this week was pretty chill. We had another baptism this week which was awesome. It was a girl of like 13 years named Paula. But it went perfectly and it was an awesome baptism. Besides that, now a lot has gone down. I've been a little sick this week which was a bit of a bummer, but I'll make it through. I think that something I ate made my stomach bad. But yeah it's all good! Oh and I've also eaten iguana now. But I'd eaten it before without knowing about it so I don't think that made me sick. Oh and today I have my first baptismal interview as a district leader so we'll see how that goes! But besides the sickness I am doing amazing! Still working hard and finding new people to teach.

We had one kind of cool experience this week. We were going contacting to find new people to teach and we came to a fork in the road. We couldn't decide which road to take so I said 'Let's let the spirit decide' and I flipped a coin to see which road to take. It fell tails so we took the road on the left and as we were walking a little kid came up and started asking us questions. We told him to take us to his house to meet his family and he took us there and apparently his family had been listening to the missionaries before but then they moved and lost contact. We talked with them and now there are 5 people that are preparing to be baptized the 4th of May. Even though I said a little jokingly that we should let the spirit decide, I really feel like the spirit helped us to take that road and find this family. Now we just have to do everything possible to help them progress.

Well that's all I've got. I hope you enjoy the pictures! Next week I'll hopefully have more! I love you all a ton!

District Leader

Dear Family and Friends,

Wow! It's so great to hear that everyone is doing soo well! That's so crazy that Nate leaves tomorrow! Ahh!!! Loco! But he is going to be an awesome missionary and love the mission so much. It is the best two years of your life really. And like you said it is important to keep a good outlook on life because it is tough too. But it's also been the most fun and the happiest I've ever been.

So first off, I'm sending all the pictures that I couldn't send last week. The first picture is of the baptism we had a week ago that I already told you about. It was a mom and her two kids and it was an awesome experience. The next two pictures are of another baptism we had this Thursday that just passed and that was so awesome. It was the baptism of the Guadalupe Family. They are so awesome. The husband is an amazing guy and he really changed his life and loves the Gospel. It has been awesome to see the change in their family is these short three weeks here. And later I am going to send some pictures of the other missionaries in our zone and also of when we went to Cotopaxi, the snow covered volcano.

So the big news this week is that we had transfers! But nothing happened here. I'm still with my two companions and still in the sector Vista Hermosa. But I'm okay with that because I've only been here for 3 weeks. But I did get bumped up to district leader this transfer. Which means now I have to take care of all the missionaries in my district and do baptismal interviews and all that good stuff. I'm a little nervous about it, but I think I'll hopefully do alright haha.

Besides that, General Conference was awesome this week! I loved every minute and learned a lot. Oh and as usual I saw Uncle Andy in the Conference, but I also saw Aunt Melissa this time! Freak the first time singing in General Conference and she already got a close up with just her. What a star! haha. Oh and when the choir from BYU sung I also saw my homie Hollie Pratt singing and I thought I saw McLaine Sanford so that was kinda cool. But yeah Conference was awesome and I can't wait for the next one.

Well that's about all I've got for this week. Still just living it up in Ecuador. I love you all soo much and I'll talk to you next week!

Love,

Elder Joshy LEE!!!

Easter!

Dear Family and Friends,

I'm glad it sounds like everyone had an awesome easter!!  It's really amazing how fast the year flies by.

I don't have a lot of time to write this week, so you might not get pictures until next week sorry. But today as a zone we went to Cotopaxi. That's why I don't have a lot of time to write. But Cotopaxi is an active volcano that has snow on it! And yes there is snow in Ecuador haha. But it was pretty fun I guess. And really freaking cold. I didnt really bring snow clothes with me to Ecuador so it got pretty chilly up there. And there wasn't even really snow. I took one picture with a tiny bit of snow and that's all we could find. There was more snow higher up, but we didn't have time to keep climbing. But it was still a lot of fun.

Also, we had some baptisms this week! Whoo!! The Ruíz family. It is a mom and her two daughters and it went great. I like this new sector a lot because we have a lot more people that we are teaching and helping to come unto Christ.

Oh and one funny story this week. Well in the U.S., like 3 days ago or something there was daylights savings time. Here in Ecuador that doesn't exist because the sun always rises at 6 and sets at 6. But I bought my watch in the U.S. and it automatically changes to daylight savings time. I didn't realize it, and on Sunday my companions and I got up at 5:30 instead of 6:30 because of my alarm. I didn't even think about it still being dark outside and I didn't realize my watch had changed to an hour earlier until church started an hour late (or so I thought). My companions got a little upset at me for making them get up a little early, but it was pretty funny haha.

Well so that's about all I've got for this week. Sorry but I didn't have much time to write, so I'll write more next week! Love you all and hope you have an awesome week! And Nate's going on a mission in a week!!! Ahh!!!! Haha love you all a ton!

Love,

Elder Joshua LEE!!
